Unlike conventional tarps, high temperature tarps and asphalt tarps are specifically made to withstand extreme temperatures. Flame retardant, high temperature tarps are commonly used for heat shields, heat curtains and transporting asphalt. For asphalt applications, the tarps must meet Department of Transportation standards to be used in many cases. By law, asphalt must be covered by a high temperature tarp in a dump truck when transporting, so high temperature tarps must be able withstand harsh weather conditions as well.
Ultra-durable and tightly woven, RFL (Resorcinol Formaldehyde Latex) fabric is a specially treated, dense canvas. A popular option for asphalt applications, RFL tarps have a very high temperature rating, and asphalt will not stick to or burn the material. Canvas high temperature tarps are commonly used for protecting or concealing equipment, allowing breathability to prevent combustion. Vinyl high temperature tarps are commonly used on construction sites as building and scaffolding enclosures to protect the property, workers and the public.
