FAQ

No, untreated canvas is not fire retardant. Untreated canvas can be very flammable as well. Our flame retardant canvas tarps are specially treated with special retardants to discourage any type of burning. The canvas is finished with Pyrosnuff, a waxed paraffin, that still allows for breathability and water resistance.

Fire retardant tarps are made from a variety of materials that are treated with flame resistant materials like Pyrosnuff that eliminate the possibility of combustion, flame, and burning. Our flame-resistant canvas is a fire retardant tarp made from water-resistant and breathable canvas. Most tarps that are fireproof canvas or tarpaulin must be treated with a fire-resistant chemical in order to be considered fire-resistant.

Fireproof canvas tarps are great for covering and protecting supplies and equipment in garages, barns, and basements. They are also perfect for use in the oil fields as well as shipyards and metalwork. They allow for breathability, keep moisture to a minimum, and protect equipment.

Not all tarps are fire retardant because they must be treated with a fire retardant chemical. The materials they are made out of are not fireproof and can melt or burn.
