Item Description

We stock fire retardant canvas tarps in three grades: 16 oz., 18 oz., and 22 oz. These tarps are beneficial because they get rid of condensation entirely while protecting your supplies and equipment. They are coated with a flame resistant finish (Pyrosnuff) that eliminates the possibility of combustion, and the tarps also breathable and resist water. Flame retardant canvas tarps are ideal for the ship yard and the oil field, as well as in other industries. These tarps are cut size so they will finish slightly smaller than size shown.  All our fire retardant canvas tarps contain brass grommets in corners and spaced approx. 24" around perimeter and are all Made in USA.

Question :
Why are the FR canvas tarps not recommended for indoor use/as walls or curtains?
1 ANSWER(S)
ANSWER :
We get this question all the time. These canvas tarps are treated with a solution to make them water resistant and fire retardant. After the natural cotton canvas is treated with the Canvak or Pyrosnuff solution, the fabric will have a distinct odor that will mostly go away over time, however, the material will have a waxy residue that does come off on your hands, equipment or what ever is being covered. This is an industrial type of material that should not be used for in home projects. Although this is a strong durable material, it is not recommended to be hung as a curtain, we do offer other materials, such as our Rhino-Tex Canvas, awning fabrics or our vinyls that would be perfect to be used as curtains.
